5 Ways to Identify Truly Creative People

August 13th, 2008 |

Extensive research in creativity has identified the important characteristics of creative people that you should look for when staffing your business.

The personality trait theory of creativity focuses on these qualities, which you should be on the look out for in your hiring process. They are also some personal qualities that you can develop as part of your personal growth program:

1.Self-confidence: the willingness to trust and take action on strongly held beliefs. we don’t always get immediate results and we need people who can communicate their beliefs to others

2. Independence: you don’t get break though solutions from people that follow the crowd.

3. Tolerance of ambiguity: we need people who can hold two different thoughts in their mind at once, who don’t rush towards certainty in an uncertain situation. The really creative solutions sometimes take time to cook and take hold.

4. Persistence: Not every idea is a great one, most aren’t any good at all, but we don’t know until we try. Can you keep going, trusting in your judgment and insights? Do you trust your team enough when the going gets tough? Genius is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration, said Thomas Edison.

5. Intuition. Do you have the internal knowledge that shows the way before all the facts are in? Can you make the intuitive leap that gets to the right solution based on deep knowledge?

These are the proven qualities that make creative people stand out from the masses. That’s what you are looking to develop in your self, and to hire in your workers, or in your potential partners to get the best bang for your buck.

Make sure your hiring process can sift through your applicants to find these essential qualities. Make sure your personal growth program forces you to develop in all 5 of these areas for maximum personal growth.

    Nice article….

Just want to add that in the process of hiring creative people sometimes do not look totally creative on their CV, but as soon as you see them you are confident that they are….

Just little bit risk taken to see different person that does not fit in the profile may be required.
Does it worthed is is up to you.
